Apple Health's Cycle Tracking is enough if you want a private, free record with solid predictions, especially if you wear an Apple Watch to sleep. Choose SheSync if you want your cycle explained in plain language, a companion that makes logging stick, or a partner who understands your cycle without you having to explain it. Plenty of people use both.
We make SheSync, so we've been careful to give Apple's built-in option its due.
Where Apple Health is strong
- It's already there, and free. Cycle Tracking lives in the Health app on every iPhone, with nothing to download.
- Predictions and alerts. It predicts your next period and a six-day fertile window, and can notify you about cycle deviations such as irregular, infrequent or prolonged periods.
- Apple Watch temperature. If you wear an Apple Watch to sleep, wrist temperature can improve period predictions and give retrospective ovulation estimates.
- Privacy. Health data is end-to-end encrypted in iCloud when two-factor authentication and a passcode are on, so not even Apple can read it.
Where SheSync is different
- It explains, not just records. SheSync tells you which of the four phases you're in each day and what that tends to mean for energy, sleep, mood and cravings, in plain language.
- A companion that keeps you logging. A character reacts to what you log, which makes the daily habit feel less like admin.
- Built for sharing. With SheSync Pro, a partner, parent or friend sees your phase, predicted dates and logged symptoms, with notes on what each phase tends to mean. Apple's Health Sharing can share chosen categories of Health data with a contact, but it shares the data rather than explaining it.
- An AI you can ask. SheSync Pro includes an AI assistant for cycle questions. It runs on our own servers, not another AI company's, and your conversations stay on your phone.
- Private by default. On the free plan, your logs stay on your phone and are never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions
Is Apple Health's period tracker good enough?
For many people, yes. Cycle Tracking is free, predicts your period and fertile window, can alert you to cycle deviations, and uses Apple Watch wrist temperature if you wear one to sleep. It's a record rather than a guide, though, so it won't explain what each phase means for you or help a partner understand your cycle.
Can Apple Health Cycle Tracking be used as birth control?
No. Apple says Cycle Tracking shouldn't be used as a form of birth control or to diagnose a health condition. The same applies to SheSync and every other period tracker app.
Can I share my cycle from Apple Health with my partner?
Apple's Health Sharing lets you share chosen categories of Health data with a contact, who sees the data in their own Health app. SheSync Pro shares your phase, predicted dates and logged symptoms with plain-English explanations of what each phase tends to mean.
Can I use SheSync and Apple Health at the same time?
Yes. They're separate apps, so you can keep Apple Health's Cycle Tracking and try SheSync's free tracking alongside it.
